Coventry City Council's Emergency Planning Team, in partnership with the British Red Cross Society and West Midlands Fire Service, are in the process of arranging a programme of training sessions to provide information and advice to prepare families in the event of an emergency situation. Perhaps residents would be interested in setting up a session locally. If so, mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to register an interest and hopefully enough people will respond to organise a course. The session last 1.30 - 2hours maximum and is designed to equip people with knowledge and skills on how they can be more resilient in either a major incident or a small incident within the home. The elements covered are how to make a Disaster Plan, Evacuation Plan, Communications Plan and what to consider putting in a 'Go Bag'. We have made some parts of this training specific to Coventry. The last part of the session covers what to do 'safely', if you find someone unconscious and breathing and then unconscious and not breathing. Everyone receives an A5 folder where they can store important details and which also has useful numbers a plan for evacuation etc. They also receive a basic first aid brochure and an ICE card. The training is free and if you are able to get together a group of people we are happy to deliver this.
