Be Careful Where You Park! |

A local resident has received a parking ticket for parking on the verge behind the double yellow lines in front of his house. Apparently the parking restriction applies not only to the roadway but also applies to the grass verges, the vehicle crossovers to drives, and the pavements. It seems residents cannot legally park on their access crossover at any time!
The facts appear to be correct. Be warned !
There are many properties on Green Lane opposite Finham Park School who also have parking restrictions and may be unaware of the rules.
This was raised with councillors at the latest FRA committee meeting, and they will take it to the relveant council department for comment. |

The local police have recommended www.immobilise.com to help recover stolen items
Immobilise is the world's largest FREE register of possession ownership details and together with its sister sites the Police's NMPR and CheckMEND, forms a very effective tool in helping to reduce crime and repatriate recovered personal property to its rightful owners.

Cold Caller Advice |

Reports have been received regarding calls from a company selling burglar alarms and claiming to be working with police. Although this particular firm is legitimate, their selling techniques often include hard selling and they are known to target the elderly.
As with any firm cold calling either at the front door or by telephone, our advice would be not to answer the door in the first instance and not to employ them. If you are considering installing any security items, you can always contact this office by telephone on 76539088 or emailing me and ask to speak to one of our Crime Reduction Officers.

Air Ambulance Collections Scam |

THOUSANDS of “misleading” leaflets have dropped through the letterboxes of homes in Warwickshire falsely claiming to be from the air ambulance.They are asking for clean and re-usable clothing, bed linen, jewellery, and mobile phones.
But the leaflet has nothing to do with the local air ambulance.
Warwickshire Trading Standards are investigating the issue after it received complaints from residents in Nuneaton and Leamington.
And air ambulance charities across the country have been notified to warn potential victims of the scam.
You should check for the registered charity number, 1098874, when making a donation, or if you are unsure please do call a member of the air ambulance team on 0845 4130 999.

Police Update - Beware Daytime Burglaries |

Crime wise, we are still attracting predominantly daytime burglaries, Green Lane being the target area, with some as early as 09.00, literally as the front door closes it seems! The theft from motor vehicles have moved to Warwick University now! |

Thefts from cars in the area |

Update from PC Alastair Davies:
We have had some theft from motor vehicles recently, with the cars being entered as opposed to number plate thefts.
The victims believe their cars may have been insecure, so its worth emphasizing residents make sure they have locked their cars, and if they can, garage the vehicle. There is some suggestion that there are devices available, particularly for vehicles linked to the Volkswagon/Audi Group which unlock the car, don't cause damage, but fortunately won't start the vehicle. It is worth making sure no items of any value, be it cost or sentiment are left in the car. Similarly if a sat-nav is used and suckered to the windscreen ensure the mark is wiped off. |
